OPTIX MINI LIGHT DOME

On UnitX’s Hardware team, I led the yearlong redesign of their OptiX Mini Light Dome - a product that leverages deep learning and optimized lighting to automate visual inspection tasks. The primary objectives were to increase light uniformity, convert machined components for mass production, and obtain an IP67 rating. I streamlined the design using SolidWorks and top-down modeling, incorporating an aluminum die-cast body, flexible LED PCBAs, low-profile FPC cables, and dual plastic injection-molded diffusers. I managed the design from concept generation through validation testing and collaborated on-site with manufacturing partners in China to establish the production line. The final assembly received ETL and CE international certifications, with utility and design patents pending.
